Times

We meet Monday 5pm to 6pm at the Scout Hut, during school term times only.

Invest

When your child first attends they will be non-invested, a "Kit". After attending for 4 to 6 weeks they will be asked if they would like to be invested into the scouting movement. The "Kits" will say the "Promise" in the "Investiture Ceremony" and will receive a neckerchief, woggle and badges.

The Squirrel Scout Promise is:

I promise to do my best to be kind and helpful and to love God.

(Promises tailored for alternative religions as well as non-religious versions of the promise are also available)

Meeting

Squirrel Scout opening ceremony, also known as an opening activity, is a short, engaging way to start a Squirrel Scout meeting. It helps welcome everyone, settle them in, and get them ready for the session's activities. A typical opening ceremony might involve a song, a simple game, or a short activity that everyone can participate in together.

At the end of the meeting we form a circuil and sing the closing song. Everyone should be encouraged to join in the song together and to wave to each of the people as their name is sung.

Goodbye (name of young person), goodbye (name of next young person), goodbye (name of next young person), we hope that you've had fun.

Uniform

Invested members are called "Squirrels" and as part of the scouting association they must wear the uniform. The uniform consists of Red sweatshirt, neckerchief and woggle with trousers or shorts (black, grey or navy). Other optional items are: - Red polo shirt and cap. All can be purchased from the local County Scout shop

Prices

Membership Subscription

£4 per Squirrel, each week (during school term-time) whether or not the Squirrel attends. We do have a monthly membership payment system where you can pay £13.50 each month automatically on the 15th, to make things easier for you.

What it pays for

Over half of Subs goes towards insurance and hut costs, the remainder on badges and in hut activities. So it is important that Subs is paid, just like car insurance, even if a car is not driven, the insurance still has to be paid for and it's the same with our Subs.

Sleep-overs, Camp, Trips and Activities - will all be charged individually.
